Discover the interactive Cheese Museum of the Capriz Artisan Dairy in Vintl, located in the Puster Valley.

On more than 400 m² of exhibition space, visitors can experience the fascinating world of cheesemaking up close.

Embark on a 90-minute journey of discovery through the Capriz Cheese Museum and Show Dairy in Vintl. Our trained cheese sommeliers will guide you through the interactive exhibition.

Tour itinerary:

  • Welcome in the historic section of the Cheese Museum
  • Stroll through the history of milk in South Tyrol with original exhibits
  • Live demonstration in the glass-walled show dairy
  • Glimpse into the ageing cellar with over 5,000 wheels of cheese
  • Sensory station: Learn how to professionally taste and evaluate cheese
  • Final tasting session in the degustation room

During the museum part, you will learn about:

  • How 10 litres of milk become 1 kg of cheese
  • Differences between goat’s, cow’s and sheep’s milk cheeses
  • The role of bacterial cultures in cheese maturation
  • Traditional cheesemaking vs. modern techniques
  • The history of cheese from the Middle Ages to today

The tasting includes:

  • 6 award-winning Capriz cheeses (from mild to full-bodied and piquant), paired with homemade chutneys, South Tyrolean Schüttelbrot, and a glass of our own wine or regional apple juice
